There are a lot of new exciting features that are released with vSphere 7 especially on vCenter Server 7. Many new features such as vCenter Update Planner, vCenter Server profiles, Content library template versioning, multi nic support for vCenter server are released with vSphere 7.
After you have upgraded the other VMware products such as VMware Site Recovery Manager, vSphere Replication, VMware NSX-V, VMware NSX-T, and vRealize automation, etc. to the compatible version with vSphere 7.0.
You can take a look at my article vSphere 7 Pre-Upgrade Checks to check the pre-upgrade checks before upgrading the vCenter Server. The next step is to upgrade vCenter 6.7 to vCenter 7.0.
In vSphere 7.0, vCenter Server with External Platform Services Controller deployment is not supported and it is deprecated. If you were running your earlier version of vCenter Server with external PSC deployment, We need to converge the vCenter server with external PSC to the vCenter 7.0 embedded PSC.
In this video tutorial, I explained in detail about how to Upgrade & Converge vCenter 6.7 with External PSC to vCenter 7.0 Embedded PSC.
If you want the converge the external PSC to embedded PSC, We may need to manually run the convergence procedure till vSphere 6.7.
With the release of vSphere 7.0, We simply need to use the Upgrade option in the vCenter Server installer which will automatically upgrade and Converge your vCenter server 6.7 with external PSC to vCenter Server 7.0 with embedded PSC.
There are a few other steps such as Unlinking the previous external PSC using cmd-sso util and decommissioning the old external platform services controller needs to be performed.
I have decided to put all the detailed Procedures into a video on my Youtube Channel.
